Butterflies taste with their feet and turtles can breathe through their butts (not suprisingly, a species of australia).

(Well now you do!)

All Things Are Possible

Come to the edge, He said.
They said, We are afraid.
Come to the edge, He said.
They came.
He pushed them... And they flew.

-Guillaume Apollinaire

Oh Danny Bhoy!

If you get a chance to go to see Danny Bhoy - GO!

This comedian has an ability to create an amazing intimacy and connection with the audience. I laughed the entire way through. I couldnt stop for breathJoba. He has simple humour that draws on everday occurences - now almost everday I think of something he has reflected on in his comedy!

"Comparisons to masters of the art such as Billy Connolly, and Jerry Seinfeld are inevitable, and certainly not unfavourable." The Scotsman, Edinburgh 2005

Is he catchin' a bus or wot?

Interesting Hong Kong fact by zoe the factologist...
Some senior chinese men drag their chairs to the nearest bus stop and 'park' them there permanently to make the long wait easier (and if there is a railing at the bus stop, they will tie the chair to the railing with string so noone will nick off with it).

The funny thing is that when you see the line of chairs at a bus stop, they consist of normal chairs, computer desk chairs and even entire sofa lounges!!! A strange sight!

Horsing around...

Today we decided to try out the new 'Joba' (Japanese for horseback riding) horseback-simulation machine intended for exercise (hmm).

This machine is apparently taking Japan by storm..although I really cant picture using this in my living room, especially in the company of well, anyone. The machine is literally a saddle with stirrups, and functions much the same as a bucking-bronco ride that you would see in a smelly nightclub, but much less vigorous, and it also has a vibrate function (for what weight loss purpose i don't know).

If you want to burn calories or save face, I suggest taking a walk instead!

We actually got kicked out of the shop as we we got too giggly !

A story about searching for people and places that no longer exist

Everything Is Illuminated (2005)
Based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer

Jonathan is a young American Jew who sets out on a journey to look at his ancestors' past in the Ukraine, and to find a woman who he believes had saved his Grandfather from the Nazis during the second world war.

Alex is a Ukrainian translator who accompanies Jonathan on his search. He is a very quirky character who speaks in delightful broken english!

This film is a mix of comedy and tragedy and is extremely moving with a dramatic and heart wrenching finish. Very original and with powerful themes that are treated with delicacy but also with humour. * * * * * * six stars!!

STARTER QUOTES:
Alex: Please do not be distressed. This is only the driver's seeing-eye bitch. (the blind grandfathers dog)
Alex: I was of the opinion that the past is past, and like all that is not now it should remain buried along the side of our memories.

If it moves, it's biology
If it stinks, it's chemistry
If it doesn't work, it's physics
If it doesn't apply, it's economics
